General Notes: Loyd farmed and
trucked, hauling pulpwood. The couple
opened a restaurant in Blue Ridge, Ga., in 1946, in Blue Ridge, Georgia. After a year they moved back to Union
County to be close to Loyd's parents.
A blight had stricken all the
chestnut tree in North Georgia and killed them.
Loyd and Eldo Gooch hauled the wood to Blue Ridge because of the
"acid wood" and they were shopped by train to Knoxville, Tn.
He hauled flint rock and later
drove a Doctor Pepper truck.
Loyd had various jobs and then
went back into the restaurant business.
