Tade & The Confederacy
My great aunt Lela Octavia "Tade" Tyson Carr (1886-1957)is pictured here at the Confederate Cemetery Memorial in Marietta, Ga.
Her father, Obediah Tyson was born in 1852. Which he would have been 10 to 13 years old during the war. He was too young. However, Tade's great grandfather Robert Cabel Tyson (1821 - 1864) would have been in his early '40s when the war was in this area. There is no record that Robert Cabel Tyson served in the Confederate or the Union Army. He died April 6, 1864, just about the same time that Union Calvary Scouts came ahead of Sherman to check the area out, and there was a skirmish near the Tyson Family cemetery. Really! That is in the records. Did Robert die on the dirt he would soon be buried in?
Did Tade know something I don't?

She had a regal sounding name, Eddie.
Judy,
That was fitting, she thought she was Regal.
Sounds like he was militia and there was a skirmish, or he couldve just been hit as a bystander.
Did I ever tell you that there is a Tyson cemetery here in Raleigh? At least there are a few people named Tyson buried there; a small plot in a residential area not too far from Crabtree Valley Mall.
Re your comment: I like that attitude, Eddie. We should all feel like that about 2007 and every year to come!
Eddie, I don't know how I got HERE this morning, but these comments are from a post on July 25th. I thought you should know how far back they were....LOL
She probably did know something that all of us don't know! - Or past relatives forgot...
Unless there are historical documents or authentic family records/letters/papers to verify, there is much that we will never know.
My guess is that one of 3 things happened - he died of illness, was shot by the Union army, or was deported.
Eddie, this picture is priceless, thanks for sharing!
