Hunter Reunion, Blairsville, 2006

Dora Hunter Spiva.  She was born in 1905.  She was about 101 when this picture was taken.  She was quick-mind and witty.  She was a school teacher.  She went to all her students high school reunions and seemed to remember all her ex-students there.  I told her caregiver I heard about how good she was remembering all her students' names and the caregiver said, "Don't let her fool you, she always spends the night before the reunions studying the pictures with the names."
Truett-McConnel College in Cleveland College has a scholar program in her name.

A niece of Dora's brought her grandchild over for Dora to see.  I overheard Dora say, "She looks just like you.  I think it is the ugliest baby I have ever laid eyes on."

Austin Hunter Wallis.  She was a high school principal and a very compulsive family researcher.  She is the one that discovered out kin-link and got in touch with me.  Her brother Charlie Hunter is sitting behind her.  Charlie is the one that saved our ancestor John Hunter's cabin from being demolished.

I the above guy is Tom Hunter from Asheville.  He and I started going to the Hunter Reunions the same year.  He was always very calm and talked very quietly.  When he shook your hand he had no grip at all, it was very limp, like maybe he was expecting you to kiss the back of his hand.  Thru the years I have seen him go through changes.  He started off with a wife and preteen daughter.  Then, it was him and teen daughter, his wife had died.  Then his teenage daughter became very stylish, and and then his daughter quit coming the same year he grew his hear out, grew a mustache and sideburns.  Then I quit going.

The guy with overalls and a red shit, Tommy Alexander.  He was a Hunter relative who offered his campgrounds every year for a place for the reunions.  He died and his son carried on.

The guy with a tie is an elected representative of the area, and kin.
