GC BBQ


Grand Champion's Barbecue.  Here is Cecile.  She works the front counter.  Her husband is one of he chefs and one of the owners.  They produce some of the best BBQ in Georgia.  Since we first visited their restaurant in the Publix Shopping Center at Johnson Ferry and Shallowford Roads with a Roswell, Georgia, address (one block from Marietta addresses) they have opened new restaurants in Alpharetta, Atlanta, and soon downtown Marietta.

They play blues music loudly.  That seems to make the BBQ better.  The chef's did not learn their trade by hanging out in the backwoods, they went to the finest chefs schools internationally, and most if not all, worked for the grand local BBQ Sam Huff.  They learned the meat from a technical point of view and leaned the spirit from Sam.

Interesting, Cecile always remembers my name and ask about us and remind us what was on our minds the last time we ate here and "how did that go?"  I think she has a hidden index system under the counter.
