General Notes: Frank lost his right arm in a train accident in Wadley, Ala.    His sister Bessie KILLIAN helped him to learn to write with his left hand. He smoke Bull Durham tobacco and he roll a cigarette with his left hand and teeth.  After the accident he became a salesman for the J.R. Watkins Company.  He worked several years as a bookeeper and guard at the Cherokee County Public Works Camp.  He also operated the Gulf Service Station near the depot in Canton and also worked at Bell Bomber Plant in Marietta, Ga., during World War II.

A longtime resident of Cobb County and a member of the American Legion, Post #160, Mr. White was employed by CSX Railroad formerly Seaboard for 40 years before retiring. He was a member of N.A.R.V.R.E., and a member of the brotherhood of the Locomotive Engineers #503, where he served as local chairman. He was a member of the Smyrna First Baptist Church and a member of the LLL Club at the church.

Surviving are wife, Mary Ruth White of Smyrna; daughter & son-in-law, Beverly & Leonard Holcombe of Marietta; grandson, Nathan Holcombe of Marietta; nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Smyrna First Baptist Church, 1275 Church St., Smyrna, GA 30080, The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 672648, Marietta, Georgia 30006 or The Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd., Suite 10, Atlanta, Georgia 30345-3315.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

General Notes: Charles worked for the Cherokee County Public Works Department.  Then they would camp at the work site areas.  Both mules and human muscle were required to keep the roads maintained.  While in the area he went to a box super at Bascomb Church near Woodstock.  There he met his future wife (Louise) .  He bought her box supper for her and dined with her and that was the beginning of their romance. - Jean Killian Pinyan

PINYAN - Charlie Pinyan, 82, of Canton, died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at WellStar Hospital Kennestone.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Huey Funeral Home Chapel in Canton, with the Rev. Billy Boggs, the Rev. Horace Richards and the Rev. Joey Watson officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton.

Mr. Pinyan was retired from Georgia Power Co. after 40 years of service. He was a member of Holly Springs First United Methodist Church and Hickory Flat Masonic Lodge #205. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He was married to his wife, Jean Killian Pinyan for 59 years.

Survivors include his wife, Jean K. Pinyan of Canton; two sons, Charles Pinyan Jr. of Canton and Thomas Pinyan Sr. of Ball Ground; four brothers, Roy Pinyan of Canton, H. S. Pinyan of Gainesville, R. T. Pinyan of Smyrna and Billy Pinyan of Rock Hill, S. C.; five grandchildren, Chrissa Pinyan Foster, Thomas Killian Pinyan Jr., Amy Heather Pinyan Beacham, Anna Holly Pinyan Haynes and Alisha Haley Pinyan Gramling; five great-grandchildren, Cole Henson, Grant Foster, Tate Foster, Seth Foster and Thomas Killian Pinyan III; one great, great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Wiley Pinyan, Luke Pinyan and Homer Pinyan who died in infancy; and four sisters, Hattie Pinyan Watkins, Ruby Pinyan Swartzberg, Alice Pinyan Haley and Evelyn Pinyan who died in infancy.

The family will receive friends all day today.
