Old Union County Courthouse, Blairsville
This was the Courthouse of Union County, Georgia, it has been replaced by a newer more sleek land non-characteristic looking one several blocks over. This is in the center of a round-a-bout.
Cobb County once had a "sore-thumb" looking courthouse and the Commissioner at that time could not rest until it was bulldozed away and replaced by a big glass-box. Us old timers was not happy until they built a another "sore-thumb" looking courthouse" again, only this time much better.
Anyway, back to Union County's Old Courthuse. What to do with it. They turned it into a county history museum. And in the courtroom on the second level they have bluegrass music on weekends. We were up there not too ago and got to go to the bluegrass concert.
On the first floor museum displayed is Charles Roscoe Collin's bust. He was a civic leader, a school teacher, head of the Union County Board of Education, started a Civil Air Patrol, and much more. I used to talk to him at Hunter Reunions. He was the only person there with a suit on.
