SHAMLESS Is Back

They are back.  They are shameless.  They have no morals.  They have no scruples.  But they stick together (mostly) as a family and that has to be admired.  I love to watch them because you never know what bizarre act they will do next in the name of survival.  Watching the sex is an extra bonus.

Pardon me?   Say you thought I was talking about the SHOWTIME series SHAMLESS?

No, I was talking about my neighbors.

No, just joking, I was talking about the series.  It is great.

More about Tuba Skinny on TREME

My buddy Joe Stewart posted on his blog Tally Ho! the New Oreleans Band the thing they did for HBO'S TREME last Sunday that I mentioned a couple posts ago.  It made it to You-tube.  Here is the link to that scene with Tuba Skinny:

Tuba Skinny on Treme'

Last night I was watching the latest episode of Treme', which is a ficitonal story of the New Orleans people getting over Katrina on HBO when I saw my favorite New Orleans band Tuba Skinny.  I first recognized the washboard player, then the singer (Rebeka?) then others.  They were performilng and were actually part of the story.  A character of the story was a Tuba Skinny band member.  I was thrilled they are getting national attention.

So, in case you don't know of Tuba Skinny, here is a sample I lifted off Youtube:

TREME & NASHVILLE on TV

We watched the new TV series NASHVILLE last night.  It had the makings of DALLAS and your run-of-the-mill soap opera.  What I liked about it was its real locations scenes.  Much of the show took place at the Blue Bird Cafe' in Nashville.  We spent an evening at the Blue Bird several years ago and either they used the actual cafe' or they did an excellent job of duplicating the place.

TREME on HBO is a story of the people of New Orleans rebuilding after Hurricane Katrinia.  You, the viewer, get to be an invisible voyeur right up in the faces of the players.  It is a study of people from all walks of life in the city but paying particular attention to the music and restaurant industry.  The week before last they went to the famous Preservation Hall, which I have visited on all three of my visits there.  It is a city like non-other and the HBO group is doing an excellent job  portraying its people.

My younest  son Adam  is going to that grand city today to attend a wedding.
