Elijah Petty (1806 - 1881).  Elijah was born in Surry County, North Carolina, the 7th or 8th child of fourteen children of Zachariah Petty (1761 - c1834) and Nancy Anne Dodson (1765-1811).  Elijah and his twin brother Ellisha was born on Christmas Day, 1806.

They had five children, 2 daughters and 3 sons.
Letty died at age 40 in North Carolina, and is buried at Montford Cove Baptist Church, North Carolina.  We think the death and burial took place in McDowell County.

When Letty died she left five 3 children under ten and two teenagers.  That may have influenced Elijah to find a wife, quickly.
